Why choose SteadyBounds

SteadyBounds is a parental control app for iPhone and iPad where kids earn extra screen time through learning lessons and chores their parents approve.

  • Works on the phones you already have. No computer, charger, cable or extra device to buy.
  • Every screen time control is free. Daily limits, bedtimes, school hours, app rules, time requests, extra time and reports, for every child and device.
  • Kids earn time the healthy way. Short STEM lessons and chores you approve add minutes, up to the daily cap you choose.
  • Kids can ask, and you answer from your phone. Requests work even when apps are locked.
  • Limits without reading messages. SteadyBounds can’t read texts, iMessage or email. No ads and no ad tracking.

1. What parents say about Bark

Some parents report problems in their App Store reviews of the Bark app. Here are five recent ones, in their own words.

  1. Plugging in to keep it working. “We have to continually plug in our child’s phone, multiple times a week” — a parent on the App Store, July 2026
  2. A long, hard setup. “trying for over an hour to get this thing installed and set up.” — a parent on the App Store, September 2026
  3. Extra time is hard to find. “Screen Time extension for the day is most used action. But you have it buried below the fold 3 pages in.” — a parent on the App Store, March 2026
  4. Too many alerts. “It also sent alerts for every picture and text that my kids sent or saved” — a parent on the App Store, February 2026
  5. Kids feel watched. “she said that it makes her feel like she’s being stalked.” — a parent on the App Store, July 2026

These are single reviews from Bark’s U.S. App Store page. They describe one family’s experience, not every family’s.

2. How SteadyBounds handles it

1. Nothing to plug in

SteadyBounds sets its limits through Apple’s Screen Time, right on your child’s iPhone or iPad. There’s no computer, charger or cable to sync with, and no extra device to buy. The limits keep working even when the device is offline.

2. Setup on your phone and your child’s device

Parents and kids install the same SteadyBounds app. On your phone, tap Connect a Device to get a six-digit code. On your child’s device, choose Join Family and enter the code. Then confirm on your phone and approve Apple’s Screen Time permission on your child’s device. No computer, VPN or device profile is needed.

3. Extra time in a couple of taps

Tap Add time on your child’s Controls page to add 5, 15 or 30 minutes to today in a couple of taps. Your child can also ask for more time, even when apps are locked, and you answer from your phone. When an app is locked, the lock screen names the rule that is holding it, like bedtime or a used-up daily limit, so nobody has to guess.

4. Only the things that need you

SteadyBounds doesn’t scan your child’s texts, iMessage, email or conversations in other apps, so there are no message alerts to sort through. What comes to you is something you can act on, like a request for more time or a chore waiting for your OK.

5. Clear limits, private conversations

SteadyBounds keeps oversight simple: clear limits, with your child’s conversations left private. It can’t read your child’s messages, and it doesn’t collect browsing history. Location sharing is optional, stays off until you turn it on, and shows only the most recent location.

Kids also get a positive way to earn time. Short STEM lessons and chores you approve add minutes, up to the daily cap you set, so screen time becomes something they can work toward.
