Daily max: minutes
How to use it
- Keep a daily cap. Write a daily max above and stop there, even on a busy day.
- Pay only after the task is done. Check it first, then write the minutes in that day's box.
- Mix chores with learning. Keep reading, practice or homework next to the chores.

What is an earn screen time chart?
An earn screen time chart is a simple weekly list of tasks. Each task earns a few minutes of screen time. Your child does the task, you check it, and the minutes go in that day's box.
It helps with a common problem: the daily fight over "just five more minutes." The chart turns that fight into a plan. Your child knows how to earn more time, and you know it has a limit.
How to start in five minutes
Print the chart, then sit down with your child and fill in the top together.
- Write your child's name and the week.
- Look over the example tasks. Cross out any that don't fit your family.
- Add up to three of your own tasks in the blank rows, with the minutes each one earns.
- Write a daily max. This is the most extra time your child can earn in one day.
- Each day, write the minutes in the box after the task is done. Add them up in the "Earned today" row.
- At the end of the week, add up the days in "Total earned this week."
How many minutes should each task earn?
Keep each task small, about 5 to 15 minutes. A daily max keeps earned time a bonus, not a second allowance. If a number doesn't feel fair after a week, change it.
Earned time should still fit your child's day. The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests making a Family Media Plan, so screens fit around sleep, school, play and time together. For young children, the World Health Organization suggests no more than one hour a day of sitting screen time for ages 2 to 4.
This chart is a family tool, not medical advice. If you have questions about your child's health or habits, talk with your child's doctor.
Want it automatic?
SteadyBounds tracks earned time on your child's iPhone and iPad. SteadyBounds is a parental control app for iPhone and iPad where kids earn extra screen time through learning lessons and chores their parents approve.
You add chores and choose the minutes each one earns. On your child's Controls page, Extra time allowed sets the most extra time they can get in a day. When your child finishes a chore, they tap I'm done · send for review. You tap Review, then Approve reward, on your phone. The minutes are added to your child's time for today. If Time Bank is on, anything over the day's extra time is saved for another day. Lessons can earn time too.
Every Screen Time control is free, and so are one-off chores. Premium is optional, at $5.99 a month or $49.99 a year, and adds chore routines and the full lesson library.

How many minutes should a chore earn?
